APC-Ltd

APC Ltd is a pharmaceutical process engineering research and development company, delivering specialist process solutions and proprietary processing technologies for both small and large molecules to the international pharmaceutical and chemical industries. These unique process solutions eliminate process engineering barriers, reducing the associated time, cost and risk during the development, clinical supply and manufacture of pharmaceutical compounds. APC integrates its innovative solutions across the entire lifecycle of compounds from route design and process development, through to commercialization, manufacturing and market supply optimization. APC is meeting a significant global market need and is working with the majority of top pharmaceutical companies across Europe and the US.

APC was founded by Prof Brian Glennon and Dr Mark Barrett (UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering) in Dublin, Ireland, in March 2011. The company moved to the UCD Science Centre South on the university campus in July 2011, a newly refurbished and tailored state-of-the-art facility. Since then, APC has expanded and grown into an SME with a highly experienced team of 21 personnel that includes chemical engineers, process chemists, biochemists and administrative support staff. More than 80% of APC’s team are PhD qualified with many having several years of industrial experience. The team also has the experience to manage APC’s research systems, EU project and new market development opportunities.

APC has developed proprietary platform technology that is market informed to deliver the needs of the bio/pharma industry ranging from SMEs to global top companies. APC’s juxtaposition at the academic and industry interface underpins APC’s capacity to advise on current state of the art technology and moreover to identify and inform of skills gaps for current pharma students to delivery current and future industry needs.

APC is experienced in working with academia, having established themselves as an industrial partner in the Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster, a collaboration of between university researchers and pharmaceutical companies in Ireland, with a remit to support Irish industry while driving process development and R&D for the pharmaceutical sector globally. APC supports the SSPC through provision of facilities for testing and training and hosting of postgraduate internships.
